«  Aquatics The YMCA has Something for Everyone!
Open Swim- Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00pm- 4:30pm and Wednesday and Friday 6:00pm- 7:30pm

YOUTH SWIM LESSONS:
YMCA youth swim lessons are designed to help each child learn how to swim better. The classes are pupil centered and use a problem solving guided discovery teaching technique. The emphasis is on learning and not on passing and failing. Each level is divided into five components:
Personal Safety, Stroke Development, Water Sports and Games, Personal Growth, and Rescue.

 

SUMMER SCHEDULE
4 WEEK SESSIONS
SESSION 1: Sept. 12- Oct. 8
SESSION 2: Oct. 10- Nov. 5
SESSION 3: Nov. 7- Dec. 10

 

DEVELOPMENT LEVELS (CLASS SKILLS):

Saturday Only Class Fees:

Program Mbr: $42/session
Parent/Child: (6-36 months) - This is a water awareness class. Course includes kicking, floating, reaching for objects, and “blowing bubbles”; infants will be acclimated to the water, including working with instructors.

PRESCHOOL AQUATICS (3-5 years):

9:45am- 10:15am Eel, Ray/Starfish


Pike: Beginners- Water adjustment and submersion; front and back float with IFD; front and back, and side paddle stroke with IFD 15 yards and 5 feet without.
Eel: Advance beginners- Front and back float with IFD; jump into shallow water; front, back, and side paddle with IFD 25 yards and 15 feet without.
Ray: Intermediate: Front and back float, tread water, jump into deep water, front alternating paddle stroke with rhythmic breathing 15 yards with IFD and 20 feet without, back and side alternating paddle 15 yards with IFD and 20 feet without, front and symmetrical paddle with IFD 25 yards and 20 feet without.
Starfish: Advanced: Front and back float, tread water, jump into deep water, front and back symmetrical paddle, front, back, and side alternating paddle 25 yards with IFD and 40 feet without.
 
YOUTH AQUATICS (6-14 years):

Tuesday and Thursday
5:15pm- 6:00pm- All Levels

Saturday
8:00am-8:45am- Minnow/Fish
10:30am- 11:15am- Polliwog, Guppy

Polliwog: Beginner, no swim skills necessary- water adjustment and submersion; front and back float with IFD; front back and side paddle stroke with IFD 10 yards and 5 feet without.
Guppy: Advance beginner- Front and back float; tread water; jump into deep water; Front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing, front and back symmetrical paddle, and back and side alternating paddle 25 yards.
Minnow: Intermediate- Resting float; front alternating paddle stroke with overarm recovery and rotary breathing, rudimentary breaststroke, rudimentary sidestroke, back alternating overarm stroke, and rudimentary elementary backstroke 25 yards.
Fish: Advance- Front crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and back crawl 50 yards; rudimentary butterfly 25 yards with fins, 15 yards without.


Notices: All youth, ages nine and under must be accompanied by an adult while in the pool area. Private Swim Lessons Available for All Ages Pool available for Birthday Parties


SCUBA: CLASSES AVAILABLE YEAR ROUND

ADULT CLASSES: (15 YEARS AND OLDER)
This class is for beginners to intermediate. Skills to be taught are putting face in water, arm strokes to backstrokes, and free-style, rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, glides, sidestroke, survival floating and confidence and safety in water. Tuesday and Thursday 6:40pm - 7:25pm

SWIM TEAM
YMCA TIGER SHARKS SWIM TEAM: The Y Tiger Sharks swim team is a great opportunity for swimmers to enjoy the challenge of competing against their own individual performances as well as other teams. Y Tiger Shark members must be a YMCA Facility Member and must pay with the YMCA’s automatic monthly payment system. Anyone five years or older may try out for the Y Tiger Sharks. To qualify, the swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards of any stroke and have a love of the water. Competitions are held in the YMCA league.
