YMCA youth swim lessons are designed to help each child learn how to swim  better.  The classes are pupil centered and use a problem solving guided discovery teaching technique.  The emphasis is on learning and not on passing and failing.  Each level is divided into five components: Personal Safety, Stroke Development, Water Sports and Games, Personal Growth, and Rescue.
